On every golf course on every round, you’ll find yourself with challenges.

Do I aim at the flag and risk trouble or do I aim to beyond the ‘cover number’?

There are holes that even the best ball strikers play very conservatively. The 12th at Augusta and the famous Rae’s Creek. It is so easy to leave this hole with a 5. And many have left with worse.

So, in their yardage books:

Yes. Unless, there is a very good reason, when they get to this hole, their yardage book is clear: Don’t even look at the top right of the green.

The best golfers in the world know that almost every shot they hit is imperfect. They plan to minimise the impact of their imperfection.

You’re not trying to win the Masters. You’re probably not trying to win any event most times out. But golf is much more enjoyable and much less frustrating if you embrace the total challenge.

The total challenge of the game includes the strategy. Another famous quote is that “Golf is a game of inches. The most important are the six inches between your ears.”

(Arnold Palmer).

Learn to play the ‘game of misses’

In a playing lesson, we’re looking to help improve your golf so that the scale of your “misses” is reduced and the likelihood of you hitting good shots is increased. We’re also trying to help golfers adopt an approach to the game that reduces the frustrations, improves their enjoyment, and lowers their score. Book a playing lesson with us below.
